Worshiping and Growing Together in Christ
Serving and Reaching Out Joyfully to All

Pastor Kim Gonia

Pastor Kim first moved to Colorado in 1998 after living for ten years in Madagascar with her husband and family. Ordained to Word and Sacrament ministry in 2011, she has served Lutheran congregations in Crystal Lake IL, Denver, and Conifer CO, and an Episcopal congregation in Thornton. Prior to that she was deacon at Holy Trinity in Littleton CO, chaplain at St Anthony Hospital, and support staff at the Rocky Mountains Synod. Her ministry with Holy Shepherd began in June 2023.

In addition to her call as a congregational pastor, Pastor Kim coaches pastors, deacons, and church leaders as they seek to be effective and authentic leaders in their vocational calls. She was a trainer for Excellence in Leadership from 2018-2023. Pastor Kim runs and walks daily as a grounding practice, volunteers on the community farm in the summer, reads rather voraciously, knits occasionally, and loves a good meal. She is the proud parent, along with her husband Jim, of three grown children who live in WA, CO, and MD, and one sweet and strong grandchild, Hazel.

The spiritual life matters greatly to Pastor Kim. Paying attention to the ways the Holy Spirit works in her life never ceases to surprise her, and helps her to see God at work in the lives of others. She seeks to use the gifts she has, to do what she can to help others discover – through worship, the ordinary events of life, and in community, in times of sorrow, joy, confusion, and wonder, in silence and in word and deed – the presence of the Holy One in their lives.
