Pastor Courtney Steitz, Co-Pastor of Community Engagement

Pastor Courtney grew up in Minnesota before moving to Colorado for college. She graduated from UNC in Greeley and began working with refugees from Burma and West Africa. She ran a resource center for refugee families in a low-income apartment complex and was on the leadership team for a refugee church plant in Greeley. While working with refugees, Courtney began attending Denver Seminary. She graduated in 2017 with a Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in Justice and Mission. Courtney became Lutheran during her time at Denver Seminary and began the candidacy process with the ELCA shortly before graduating.
Courtney completed her Lutheran studies through Luther seminary in St. Paul. During this time, Courtney served as an adult education volunteer and Faith Formation Interim Director at King of Glory in Loveland. She finished her internship year at Zion Lutheran in Loveland this past August and graduated from Luther Seminary with a Masters of Arts in Lutheran Studies.
Courtney and Andy have been married for seven and half years. She loves living in Colorado and looks for any excuse to be outside hiking or trail running. Courtney grew up playing basketball and has enjoys playing and coaching. She loves watching and playing sports, and especially enjoys watching the Arsenal Gunners in the English Premier League. She will read almost any book. She and Andy are looking forward to their baby daughter’s arrival in February.
